I started the year thinking that I would be one thing, and finished most certain that I will be something else.
I started and finished living in the same place. (First time in 6 years, probably.)
I started maybe around 50 books and finished maybe 10. (I’m making this up; I didn’t actually keep track.) Best were (top of the head) Anathem, Savage Detectives, and Elements of Typographic Style. The latter is like Elements of Style or Garner’s Modern American Usage… I’d recommend it to any interested reader.
I think my attention span for longer, older films is growing and I can appreciate them more; e.g., I saw Kurosawa’s High and Low for the second time and enjoyed it more than the first, when, a few years ago, I think I fell asleep. Possibly related to drinking less coffee and less beer. (I also saw Ran, again, in theaters, with a similar experience.)
I’m still running this winter. I never run in winter.
I turned 25 on 10/10/2010. The date in binary (101010) equals 42. It felt significant at the time.
